if i was to write a YA novel it would not be a romance. it would be an anti-romance.
it would be about how school girls interact with each other and how messed up it can be.
it would have to have a period scene, because WHY in no YA novel i have read do they not talk about how messed up it is coming to terms with having your monthly cycle?
it would have girls who like girls and girls who like boys, and girls who don’t really like anyone at all.
it would have boys as secondary characters, purposefully not needed for the plot but there anyway, just because.
it would have scenes where girls get drunk and don’t go wild.
it would have scenes where girls don’t get drunk at all.
it would have characters who identify as feminists. and characters who don’t.
it would have to be about how we’re all messed up and all figuring it out and how it’s best to do it with others so we can all be a bit messed up together.
